Our goal is to accelerate the attainment of healthy lifestyles for Fairfield County women of all ages.

SHC's comprehensive wellness initiative seeks to provide patients with a variety of choices for their health needs.  Our patient centered approach ensures that you are well informed and able to make the best decisions for your body and your future.

Integrative medicine refocuses medicine on health and healing. It insists on patients being treated as whole persons—minds and spirits, as well as physical bodies— who participate actively in their own healthcare.  A combination of diet, supplementation, exercise, lifestyle improvements, stress management, herbs, homoeopathy, and other methods may be selected in accordance with the needs of the individual.

Our center offers  options to supplement or replace conventional medicine or invasive treatments. Our packages were developed to treat the whole person and are supportive therapies that address the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual center. Services help patients optimize their health, improve their coping skills, and decrease stress. This, along with knowledge of nutrition, lifestyle, and stress management, leads to healthier patients.

As a woman ages, there are many post menopausal practices she can begin to ensure that she remains healthy and strong. Both physical and emotional wellness are integral to the changes a woman's body will begin to go through.

Menopause: time for a change

Starting during the premenopausal phase,  it is important to schedule visits with a practitioner for preventive health care and any medical concerns. Continue getting these appointments during and after menopause. Common physical change that a woman will feel in her pre and postmenopausal experience may be hot flashes, mood changes, and sleeplessness. At SHC, we seek to recognize and educate you on all of the unique changes that you will experience as a woman beyond just the common side effects.

Naturopathic Evaluations

Our Doctor, Cynthia Anderson, can assist you in as you begin to change physically and emotionally. Dr. Cindy uses medicines such as food, homeopathy, botanical medicines, and exercises to help you return to your optimal health. Dr. Cindy has expertise with menopause and  instructs gynecology and obstetrics at the University of Bridgeport Naturopathic College as well as presented at the National Midwifery convention on natural options for menopause.  Whether you want to keep your strong bones, be at your optimal weight, need assistance with hot flashes, mood changes, insomnia, or have urinary incontinence there are natural ways to help you during this transition in life.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is being used to reduce symptoms related to arthritis, back, neck, knee and shoulder pain, and anxiety. Studies have shown that acupuncture can benefit women experiencing menopause and assist them with pain relief. Acupuncture improves hot flash frequency and severity, menopause-related symptoms, and quality of life in women experiencing natural menopause.

Massage

Massage therapy has been shown to relieve symptoms of menopause, most notably nervousness, irritability, anxiety, and depression. Both arterial and venous blood flow are activated during massage, allowing for improved visceral functioning.

The immune system is strengthened during massage as well. Massage promotes healthy functioning of your lymph system by directly stimulating and relaxing your muscles. It flushes metabolic wastes and helps distribute nutrients to the body. Stimulating the lymphatic system provides energy, better health, better rest, weight loss and decrease in inflammation.

Even if you are not currently having any of the issues noted above, you can still visit SHC for your annual well woman exam, common gynecological problems, weight management, urinary incontinence--or really any other women’s health issue you are facing. We are here to really listen to you.
