"Sabita herself gives medical massages that are personalized to the needs of her clients." – Patient Testimonial
Sabita Kanhai started Sabita Holistic Center Nov. 15, 2003 because of her strong desire to belong to a group of ethic driven professionals that chose to combine the best of both Eastern and Western Medicine and the quality of individual care. Coming from a Corporate Communication background, she realized after only a year of the "real world" she needed to go back to school. "I became more aggressive instead of assertive," said Sabita. "Attending Memorial Sloan Kettering Integrative and becoming a Cancer Massage Therapist gave me the empathy I needed to find my place in the world again." Sabita brings over 17 years of experience to the practice as a Licensed Medical Massage Therapist and Holistic Health Counselor. She provides specific treatments and self-care techniques depending on your needs. She is also accredited by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and sits on many community boards doing local and global service.
Sabita is a Licensed Medical Massage Therapist who uses techniques derived from both eastern and western disciplines including Shiatsu, Maya Abdominal, Myotherapy, Trigger Point, and Passive Stretching. She is also trained in CranioSacral Therapy, Reiki, and Cancer Massage from Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. Sabita herself gives medical massages that are personalized to the needs of her clients. In other words, she doesn't follow a choreographed routine like most massage therapists. Rather, she meets with the client beforehand and alters her techniques during the service as she works with your body. When she comes across areas that are particularly tight or problematic, she stays there and works them out. It's a noticeable difference. Afterwards, the client receives a self-care worksheet to take home.
